Who Built the Temple of Dakka?
There are many different people, each of whom has a unique view on this subject. Some experts say that this temple was built during the 18th dynasty, especially during the reigns of
Queen Hatshepsut and King Tutmosis III. This is because they found several blocks that talk about the god Horus, to whom this temple is dedicated. This is because they saw the blocks
when digging at the site.
Some researchers think it was built by the Nubian ruler Akamai, whom the Greeks called Ergamenes, around the year 220 B.C. Still, others say that Ptolemy II Philadelphus made it
between the years of 282 and 246 BC.
Explanation oF Temple of Dakka:

The Egyptians called it El-Dakka Pselqet, while the Greeks called it Pselchis. Temple of Dakka is currently set up on a small hill. Its design has a facade, a tower, a courtyard, and two holy places. It
It is thought to be the only Nubian temple with a front that faces north, and it was built from north to south to follow the Nile.
Since the walls surrounding the open court have been taken down, the temple’s tower is now in a different place from the rest of the temple. Over the top of the entrance to the
building, there is a sun disk that looks like the wings of a uraeus. On the temple’s south side are a small doorway leading to the building and a staircase leading to many rooms inside.
After you walk through the open courtyard, you will come to the prognosis, which has reliefs of a Ptolemaic King making sacrifices to several gods. After the pronaos, the temple is split into two
different holy rooms and Akamai made the first one, and Augustus made the second one.
Several of the reliefs on the building show the ruler of the Nubians making gifts to the gods of Aswan. Anqet, the goddess of Aswan, wears a fancy feather headdress, and Sekhmet, the goddess with
a lion’s head, is shown in some of the most impressive reliefs. In other pictures, the king or queen gives gifts to Thoth, Isis, and Tefnut.
Many interesting reliefs and religious themes are carved on the temple’s walls. It was turned into a church during Christ’s time, like most of the other buildings in Nubia at the time.
On the spot where the temple of El-Dakka is now, we also find the temple of El-Sebua and the small Serapis and Isis temples of Maharraka, which were built during the Roman era. During the
time of the Romans, both of these temples were made. This small temple is different from other Nubian buildings because its stairs are curved instead of straight.
