Nile Cruises in Egypt — The Complete 2026 Guide

The best way to understand Ancient Egypt is to travel the way it was always meant to be travelled: by water. A Nile cruise turns the long distances between the great monuments into the most relaxing part of your holiday — you unpack once, and the temples of Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan come to you along the banks of the Nile River.

Nile Cruise Trips is a licensed Egyptian operator that has been arranging cruises on the river since 2009. Because we work with the ships directly, we can be honest about which boat suits your budget, put a qualified Egyptologist beside you at every site, and stay reachable on WhatsApp throughout your trip.

What does a Nile cruise include?

A standard sailing covers full-board accommodation in a five-star cabin, all guided sightseeing with an Egyptologist, and meet-and-assist at the airport. Between temples you have the pool deck, the sun and the slow green scenery of rural Egypt. A typical 3- or 4-night itinerary takes in Karnak and Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Horus at Edfu, the double temple of Kom Ombo, and the High Dam and Philae at Aswan.

Luxor to Aswan, or Aswan to Luxor?

Both directions visit the same sites. Luxor → Aswan is usually 4 nights and eases you in gently; Aswan → Luxor is usually 3 nights and finishes with Luxor’s biggest temples. If you have more time, add Lake Nasser and Abu Simbel, or a slow dahabiya for a quieter river.

How do I choose a ship?

Every cruise we sell is five-star; the difference is cabin size, dining and service. Compare the tiers — Standard, Deluxe, Luxury and Ultra-luxury — or let us match you to the right boat for your dates and group.

When should I go, and what does it cost?

October to April is peak season: warm, dry and comfortable, but book early for Christmas, New Year and Easter. Summer is hotter and cheaper. Prices depend on the ship, the season and how far ahead you book — see live Nile cruise offers, or combine the river with Cairo and the pyramids in one of our Egypt tour packages.

Whatever you choose, tell us your dates and group size and we’ll come back within 24 hours with availability and a clear, all-in quote — no pressure, and no marked-up middleman prices.

I've been on many trips, but nothing compares to this! The cruise was the perfect balance of relaxation and discovery — Abu Simbel and Hatshepsut's Temple were breathtaking. The balloon ride over Luxor at sunrise was the icing on the cake.

Our tour was wonderful! Ahmed was an incredible, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Our cruise ship was spotlessly clean with helpful staff, and the food was excellent. We loved Egypt!

We had a fantastic time thanks to Mona — attentive from the first message and completely stress-free, organising the boat, guide and transfers. Our guide Amir was brilliant. We left Egypt with a new friend.

Good to Know

Everything you need before you sail

Best time to sail

October to April brings warm days and cool nights — the prime season. Sailing in summer? Pick a ship with a shaded sun-deck and pool.

What to pack

Light cotton for the day, a layer for breezy evenings, comfy walking shoes, a hat, sunglasses and SPF 50. Modest cover for sacred sites.

Tipping & money

Carry small US dollars or Egyptian pounds for tips and souvenirs. A shared crew tip box is customary; guides and drivers tipped separately.

01 When is the best time for a Nile cruise? +
The best months are October through April, when days are warm (around 25–30°C) and evenings cool. June to August is the hottest, near 40°C — cruises still run year-round, but winter is the most comfortable season to sail.
02 How many nights does a Nile cruise last? +
Most cruises run 3 nights (Aswan to Luxor) or 4 nights (Luxor to Aswan). Longer 7-night round trips are also available, as well as extended 12–15 day itineraries starting from Cairo.
03 What's included in the price? +
All cruises are full-board: accommodation, meals, an English-speaking Egyptologist guide, private air-conditioned transfers, all entrance fees in the programme, and taxes. Optional tours, tipping and personal expenses are excluded.
04 Do I need a visa to visit Egypt? +
Most visitors need a visa, available on arrival at Egyptian airports or online via e-Visa before travel. Requirements vary by nationality, so it's best to check ahead — our team can guide you.
05 How do I book and pay? +
Reserve with a 30% deposit (50% over Christmas, New Year and Easter). Pay securely by Visa or Mastercard, bank transfer, or Western Union — with the balance due before or on arrival.
